Explosion of Cell Phone Causes Injuries in Anápolis

A cell phone explosion in a crowded supermarket in Anápolis, Brazil left a woman with first and second degree burns. Video footage captured the alarming moment as she attempted to extinguish the flames.


A woman, whose identity is not disclosed, had the misfortune of being injured by a mobile phone explosion, receiving burns of varying degrees. The video surveillance cameras recorded the horrifying moment when the device unexpectedly exploded, causing a fire and burns to the woman. The injured party was taken to Alfredu Abrou hospital, where she was assisted due to first and second-degree burns on her hand and spine, as well as fiery injuries to parts of her hair.

At the moment of the explosion, the woman was standing next to a man, when he was examining some items, and she was shocked to see the phone caught fire, and shortly thereafter a fire broke out around her as she frantically tried to extinguish the flames.

The manufacturer of the phone, Gulf Laboratories, issued a statement about the incident, indicating that the mobile phone exploded in the woman's purse while she was shopping at a reopened supermarket in the municipality of Anápolis in Brazil.
