
The government of Brazil on Monday acknowledged the chief of the US embassy in Brazil for explaining the "unusual" address with the country's president, Jair Bolsonaro.
According to a statement from the Brazilian foreign ministry, it requires clarification and a disclaimer from the American administration. The diplomat was invited to provide explanations regarding the remarks made on Twitter, unusually joking about the president of Brazil, Bolsonaro.
"We consider this to be unfriendly and in many respects an aggressive act of the embassy," - communicated the official representative of the Brazilian Ministry. "We hope that our request will be followed by appropriate actions".
The joke was published in the run-up to the Covid-19 pandemic and referred to the alleged fact of the president's lack of higher education.
