Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, convicted of attempting a coup d'état, was discharged from the hospital after two weeks of treatment for acute pneumonia and began serving house arrest. The Supreme Court granted him this measure for 90 days, extendable. Judge Alexandre de Moraes agreed to the request after repeatedly rejecting similar appeals from the defense. "He has just been discharged," his doctor, Brasil Caiado, said at the entrance of the private DF Star hospital, noting that the former head of state will have to undergo intensive physiotherapy and care. "The last two days were calm and without complications, but we cannot say that he is cured; treatment will continue at home," Caiado stated. Bolsonaro will be able to receive visits from family, lawyers, and doctors. "In general, his health condition is more or less balanced," the doctor summarized. The 71-year-old far-right leader was hospitalized on March 13 with bronchopneumonia after developing a high fever, decreased blood oxygen saturation, and chills in prison. After more than a week in intensive care, he was moved to a regular room, paving the way for his release. In his Brasília residence, Bolsonaro will have to wear an electronic bracelet and is prohibited from using a mobile phone, social media, or recording any videos or audio. During his hospital stay, the far-right leader will also undergo a chest CT scan to evaluate the healing of the bilateral bacterial pneumonia that has kept him hospitalized since March 13.
