A report from the Federal Police mentioned that a man was seen fleeing from the vehicle after the explosion. It is believed that this person, who attempted to detonate explosives unsuccessfully, could be the fatal victim. Following the detonations, evacuation of ministers and personnel from the building was carried out as a precaution. Carlos Monteiro, a witness to the events, described how the man stopped the vehicle, took items from the trunk, got out with a backpack, and shortly after the explosions occurred.
The area around the Supreme Court, Plaza of the Three Powers, was cordoned off and inspections were carried out to search for more explosives. A vehicle registered in Santa Catarina was identified as the source of one of the explosions and reportedly carried a bomb tied with bricks. The Civil Police of the Federal District is already investigating, and the region of Esplanada dos Ministérios was closed as a precaution.
Brazil's Attorney General, Jorge Messias, assured that a thorough investigation will be carried out to clarify the motives behind the attacks and ensure safety in the region. At the time of the incidents, President Lula da Silva was not present. Witnesses described chaotic scenes with people running in different directions after the explosions, which were very close in time.
