Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino arrived in Foz do Iguaçu for the LXVII Mercosur Summit. He will present the law ratifying the ACE-76 agreement, a key step to solidify Panama's status as an Associated State of the bloc.

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino arrived in Brazil this Friday to attend the LXVII Summit of the Mercado Común del Sur (Mercosur), to be held this Saturday, December 20, in Foz do Iguaçu. Mulino will formally present to the heads of state the law ratifying the Economic Complementation Agreement (ACE-76), one of the fundamental requirements to consolidate Panama as an Associated State of the Mercosur bloc, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. In addition to Brazil's President, Luiz Inácio 'Lula' da Silva, the Mercosur summit is attended by the leaders of Panama, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Upon his arrival at the hotel on Friday, President Mulino was received by a group of Panamanian students studying various careers in Foz do Iguaçu, who requested to meet with him and exchange ideas about their experience in this location. This represents Panama's second intervention as an associated country. The first time was at the Mercosur Summit in Argentina, where its integrative role, economic and logistical advantages, as well as Panama's progress in fiscal transparency and the importance of projects for the continuity of the Panama Canal's operations were highlighted.
