More than 400 people with limited capabilities participate in a program that conducts treatment courses for Daun's syndrome with the help of dolphins in Iranduba in northern Brazil. Igor Simos Andrade (49 years), the creator of this treatment method, says: "This is an additional treatment that does not replace other methods." A physiotherapy specialist emphasizes that this alternative, which brings joy to children and youth, helps them to connect with nature and provides strengths that cannot be obtained in hospitals.
Andrade explains that sessions with dolphins help patients "improve coordination and motor skills, strengthen the spine," as well as "feel united with nature." He adds: "Here we are not treating diseases; we are treating people."
