Eleven people were killed and 11 others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck in southern Brazil on Saturday morning. Brazilian media reported that the accident occurred on the federal highway BR-116 in the municipality of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul state. According to Brazil's Globo network, the bus was carrying tourists heading to the municipality of Camacua and had departed from Pelotas city in the morning. The bus driver was among the victims, while the injured were taken to medical facilities for treatment. Police stated that part of the sand load in the truck spilled inside the bus, which hindered rescue operations. The company 'Ecofias Sol' has closed the highway at kilometer 491 in both directions, with no forecast for when it will reopen.
