The Brazilian chancellor, Mauro Vieira, announced that the city of Rio de Janeiro will host the summit of leaders of the BRICS countries on July 6 and 7. Brazil, as the rotating president of BRICS in 2025, is leading the preparations for this important event that will bring together representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The holding of this summit aims to strengthen international relations and promote cultural, commercial, and tourist exchanges among the member countries. To coordinate the organization of the event, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, has created a committee dedicated to ensuring the success of the summit.
The selection of Rio de Janeiro as the venue for this international meeting comes after the city's success in hosting the summit of G20 leaders last November. As part of its role in the rotating presidency of BRICS, Brazil is working on developing the agenda and topics that will be addressed during the summit.
In Chancellor Vieira's words: "We will welcome the heads of state from the 20 countries that make up BRICS in the categories of full members and partners, where we will make important decisions for the development of these countries, for cooperation, and to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of these countries."
