Sheinbaum to Attend G20 Summit in Brazil

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Thursday her participation in the G20 Summit, which will bring together the main world leaders on November 18 and 19. This will be her first trip abroad since taking office at the beginning of October. During the morning conference at the National Palace, she confirmed her attendance at the event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she will meet with prominent global political leaders.

Sheinbaum decided to attend the G20 Summit and consequently declined the invitation to receive an award from the University of Berkeley in California, USA, which coincides with the dates of the geopolitical event in Brazil.

Her participation in this meeting is notable for being different from the attitude of her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who often rejected these conferences. López Obrador made his first trip abroad in 2020, more than a year after taking office, when he visited then-US President Donald Trump.
