
The mayor of Guadalajara, Verónica Delgadillo, participated in the Urban20 2024 Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she strengthened collaboration with the cities of Paris and Barcelona on public policies related to care and culture, respectively. Delgadillo expressed her satisfaction in interacting with other mayors from around the world and sharing experiences in an international collaboration environment.
In this meeting, which brings together mayors from major G20 cities, critical issues such as climate emergency, inequality, and sustainable economic development were discussed. Delgadillo met with the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, with whom she agreed to collaborate on the development of care policy in Guadalajara, taking the best practices from the French capital as a reference.
Anne Hidalgo praised Verónica Delgadillo's vision and highlighted the relevance of the agreement reached between both cities to promote proximity in care matters. Additionally, Delgadillo met with the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, with whom she agreed to strengthen cooperation in the cultural field and waste management.
During the Urban20 Forum, municipal leaders emphasized the importance of involving civil society in the formulation of public policies, as well as strengthening global alliances with a view towards 2050 and seeking international funding to drive key actions. Guadalajara and Paris will work hand in hand in the implementation of agreements that benefit both cities in fundamental areas.
