On the morning of Friday, February 7, an aerial tragedy shook the city of São Paulo when a small aircraft that departed from Campo de Marte Airport heading to Porto Alegre attempted an emergency landing on Marquês de São Vicente Avenue in the Barra Funda region. During the maneuver, the plane struck a tree and then collided with a bus, triggering a fire.

Two charred bodies were recovered from inside the aircraft by rescue teams. In addition to the fatalities, seven people, including passengers on the bus and occupants of other affected vehicles, were rescued. Among the deceased are attorney Márcio Carpena, the owner of the aircraft, and pilot Gustavo Medeiros.

Márcio, originally from Porto Alegre, shared a video on his social media shortly before the accident showing the plane performing the pushback maneuver at the airport. Additionally, his partner Kussovski also left São Paulo that same morning, opting for a commercial flight to the same city. In a tragic turn of events, both became entangled in the fatality.
