Roberto Carlos admitted to hospital in Brazil after heart surgery

Brazilian Roberto Carlos, former Real Madrid and 'Canarinha' player, has been admitted to a health center in São Paulo, where he was on vacation, after being operated on for a cardiac problem, sources from the white club confirmed to Efe. The former left-back, who played for the club for eleven years, between 1996 and 2007, underwent a test on a leg where he had a thrombosis and a problem with heart function was detected, which prompted a rapid intervention. Roberto Carlos, currently an ambassador for Real Madrid, is out of danger, but as is customary in these cases, he will remain under observation for at least the next 48 hours to ensure his evolution is positive. Considered one of the best left-backs in history, 52-year-old Roberto Carlos was a world champion with the Brazilian national team in 2002, won two Copa Américas and one Confederations Cup, as well as three Champions Leagues, four Spanish leagues, and two intercontinental cups with Real Madrid, and two São Paulo state championships, among other titles.
