The newspaper "Sport" from Spain drew attention to the salary of Neymar Junior in his new team, Brazilian Santos, after his departure from "Al-Hilal" in Saudi Arabia. The newspaper reported that Neymar's salary is significantly lower compared to world standards of salary in football, when he received 101 million euros annually in Saudi Arabia.
"Receiving one of the best contracts in football history started from Al-Hilal, and then PSG, the Brazilian had to accept a much smaller salary in Santos, corresponding to the reality of his homeland," the newspaper noted.
"Sport" clarified that Neymar's father negotiated the contract with Santos president Marcelo Teixeira about the fact that his son will receive 20 million Brazilian reais a year "net," which is equivalent to approximately 2.5 million euros, that is, about 500 thousand euros per month.
The newspaper added that for the five months that Neymar will spend in Santos from February to June, "this will be a turning point for him to restore the feeling of football after a long period of coma, when he received a rupture of the front cruciate ligament of his left knee in October 2023, and the revival of his career, considering his last stage in professional football."
