The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in an interview with radio stations in the state of Bahia (northeast), expressed his opinion on the presidency of Donald Trump in the United States. Lula da Silva stated that Trump was elected to govern his country, not to be a global authority, and criticized the U.S. president's statements about seizing foreign territories, considering them as "provocations" and "anomalies."
In this sense, the Brazilian leader advocated for Trump to maintain "democratic and civilized" relations with the rest of the world, in contrast to his intention to move Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip, labeling Israel's offensive in that region as genocide. Lula da Silva questioned the U.S. stance as a "symbol of democracy and the sheriff of the world" and found Trump's claims about the occupation of countries and territories inappropriate.
Additionally, Lula da Silva mentioned Elon Musk, the South African entrepreneur and one of the key members of Trump's new administration, noting that democracy must be respected and rejecting the idea that a businessman could claim control over global communications or interfere in the electoral processes of other countries.
