Brazilian Police Seizes Record Sums from Organized Crime

The Federal Police of Brazil (PF) has achieved a record figure in the fight against the decapitalization of organized crime: between January and November of 2025, the corporation seized 9.5 billion reals (around 1.761 billion dollars) in cash and assets, a significant increase compared to the 6.1 billion reals (1.131 billion dollars) confiscated in the same period of 2024. The director general of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, presented the balance, highlighting that these resources were "withdrawn from organized crime" through various seizure methods, as learned by the Argentine News Agency. The strategy: hitting the finances of crime. The seized assets include a wide spectrum, such as: cash, real estate, boats and aircraft, cryptoassets and gold, and blocks in the bank accounts of those investigated. Rodrigues defended this strategy, whose focus is not on the most vulnerable sectors, but on those who finance and direct criminal structures. The balance also reflects greater efficiency in operations. For Rodrigues, these figures demonstrate "the most efficient result of the investigations" and the strengthening of actions against organized crime in the country. The Federal Police has carried out 3,310 approved operations so far this year, exceeding the 3,133 recorded in all of 2024.
