Poll: Lula Leads in Upcoming Brazilian Presidential Elections

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appears as the winner in all second-round scenarios against potential opposition candidates in the presidential elections scheduled for October 2026, according to a poll by the consultancy Quaest, released this Tuesday by GloboNews. According to the survey, in a potential runoff, Lula would get 46% of the vote intentions, compared to 36% for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, of the Liberal Party, recently announced as a candidate by former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is in detention and sentenced to 27 years in prison for attempting a coup d'état. Lula also leads other conservative and right-wing figures. The study was commissioned by the investment bank Genial Investimentos and was carried out between December 11 and 14, with a sample of 2,004 people aged 16 or more across the country.
