For these companies, fossil fuel is sacred, while for climate lobbies, it is profane. The latter seemed to be ready to give up, perhaps for the first time. Frustration and annoyance took hold of the climate lobbies (especially in Europe) due to what their activists considered to be 'weak and vague' results of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025. These activists directed their anger and criticism at more than 56,000 participants, considering their participation in the conference to be merely symbolic, as they alleged that most of them are financially unable to confront the all-powerful lobbies of fossil fuel companies, even within the conference halls.
