Brazil. Former President Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to intensive care due to a worsening of his kidney function. The medical staff at DF Star Hospital in Brasilia reported this. His condition is stable, but his kidney function has deteriorated and inflammatory markers have increased. Bolsonaro, who is 70 years old, is being treated with antibiotics, intravenous hydration, respiratory and motor physiotherapy, as well as measures to prevent venous thromboembolism. He was previously hospitalized with bacterial bronchopneumonia. The former president was taken to the hospital after feeling unwell in the early hours of Friday while being held at the Papuda prison complex in the Brazilian capital. He is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for attempting a coup in 2022 after losing the presidential election to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. It is worth noting that since his detention, Bolsonaro has already sought medical assistance several times: in January, he was hospitalized after hitting his head on a piece of furniture in his cell.
