The Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, emphasized the importance of dialogue to address the tariff measures imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump. In an interview with CBN radio, Alckmin stated that Brazil is not a problem for the United States and that they seek mutual understanding in foreign trade.

Alckmin pointed out that Brazil has already initiated negotiations aimed at minimizing the impacts of the tariffs imposed by the United States. He proposed the creation of a bilateral working group to effectively address these issues. For his part, Trump imposed tariffs of 25 percent on all imports from Canada and Mexico and increased tariffs on Chinese imports from 10 to 20 percent with a recently signed decree.

These tariff measures, which went into effect on March 4, are part of Trump's 'America First' policy, with the stated goal of protecting American workers and businesses.

In this context, Alckmin made a call for dialogue and highlighted the need for foreign trade to be a mutually beneficial relationship between countries. Brazil's stance on these tariff measures is to seek understanding and solutions that favor both parties.
