Brazil Prepares Agricultural Plan for 2025-2026

The Brazilian Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, highlighted the importance of agriculture in Brazil, both to supply the country and to export food to the world. He announced that the government is preparing the Harvest Plan 2025-2026 for the agricultural sector, aimed at boosting its growth despite high interest rates that could hinder its development.

According to Teixeira, Brazilian agriculture has been increasing, and it is expected that the plans for the previous years, which set records, will continue this trend. The government's focus is on family farming, small producers, and land reform. The possibility of facilitating the modernization of agricultural machinery is being discussed, given the increase in the basic interest rate of the economy by the Central Bank.

In the context of uncertainty caused by the tariffs imposed by the United States, Teixeira emphasized that Brazilian agriculture has positioned itself as one of the most attractive globally. Brazil has the potential to supply countries affected by the trade restrictions imposed by the United States, being competitive in markets such as soy, cotton, corn, and processed meats.

In this regard, Teixeira stressed that Brazil is not involved in trade disputes and can seize the opportunity to become a supplier to nations seeking alternatives to the U.S. sanctions and tariffs. The minister emphasized the need to discuss the agricultural plan and evaluate the possibility of subsidizing the purchase of agricultural machinery, given the high prevailing interest rates, which could favor the development and modernization of the sector.
