Rise in AI Use in Brazil Exposes Deep Social Inequality

A TIC Domicilious survey shows 32% of Brazilian internet users use generative AI. However, the study reveals a huge gap: among high-income people, this figure reaches 69%, while among the poor it is only 16%.

Rise in AI Use in Brazil Exposes Deep Social Inequality

The adoption of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is experiencing a rapid rise in Brazil, reaching 50 million people, which represents 32% of internet users in the country, according to the TIC Domicilios survey by the Committee for the Management of the Internet in Brazil (CGI).

However, the survey emphasizes that this growth is deeply marked by socioeconomic and educational inequality, concentrating its use mainly among higher-income segments and with a higher level of schooling.

Income and education gap in AI use

The survey data reflect a significant gap in access to these cutting-edge technologies:

Income: The use of generative AI is employed by 69% of users in the highest income classes. This proportion drops drastically to only 16% among users with the fewest resources.

Educational Level: The disparity is also evident in academic formation. 59% of those with higher education use these tools, in contrast to a mere 17% of people with only primary education.

Other data on the Brazilian digital landscape

The TIC Domicilios 2025 study, developed by CGI.br with the support of the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br), also shed light on other digital trends in Brazil:

Limited Mobile Access: Nearly 64 million Brazilians (39% of mobile phone users) reported having exhausted their data package at least once in the last three months, revealing significant gaps in continuous access to mobile internet.

E-Government: 71% of internet users aged 16 or more accessed e-government services in 2025. The Gov.br platform was used by 56% of them, mainly to carry out personal procedures (49%).

Online Betting: A total of 30 million internet users aged 10 or more (19%) placed some type of online bet.
