Brazil's Coffee Exports to China Surge by 30%

Brazil's coffee exports to China grew robustly by 30.42% between January and November 2025, consolidating the Asian country as the tenth-largest buyer of the grain, according to the Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé). The council's report detailed that Brazil sent a total of 1,042,960 sixty-kilogram bags to its main trading partner in the first 11 months of 2025. However, dollar revenues showed a 25.3% increase, rising from $11.37 million to $14.25 million, driven by significantly higher international prices. Márcio Ferreira, president of Cecafé, explained in a statement that the decline in shipment volumes was 'expected after the historic record of 2024 and the lower product availability this year.' Nevertheless, he warned that soluble coffee, which accounts for 10% of Brazilian exports to that country, remains subject to the 50% tariff. In the cumulative period from January to November, sales to the US market fell by 32.2%, totaling 5.04 million bags, representing 13.7% of total shipments. Despite this, Ferreira indicated that commercial operations with the United States are beginning to normalize.
