Brazil Sets Record for Tourist Arrivals in 2025

Brazil welcomed 9 million international tourists in 2025, surpassing its national plan target two years early. Argentina led as the top source country, and tourism revenue reached $7.17 billion. The growth is attributed to infrastructure and air connectivity improvements.

Brazil Sets Record for Tourist Arrivals in 2025

Brazil set a historic record by welcoming nine million international tourists in 2025, significantly surpassing the 6.7 million figure from the previous year. The Ministry of Tourism reported this, according to the Argentine News Agency.

According to official data, this performance exceeded the target of the National Tourism Plan ahead of schedule, which had projected receiving 8.1 million visitors not until 2027.

The strong increase was also reflected in foreign currency earnings: between January and November of this year, foreign tourists left $7.17 billion in the Brazilian economy, a figure close to the $7.3 billion reached throughout 2024, according to the Central Bank of Brazil.

Argentina Leads the Regional Flow

Argentina once again positioned itself as the main source country, with 3.1 million visitors between January and November, an 82.1% year-on-year increase.

The ranking of source countries continued with:

Chile: 721,497 tourists (+24.4%) United States: 677,888 (+5.8%) Uruguay: 487,514 (+37.2%) Paraguay: 454,327 (+14.4%)

Employment and Tourism Investment

The Ministry attributed the performance to progress in tourism infrastructure, the expansion of air connectivity, and international promotion campaigns.

The federal government financed over 270 tourism infrastructure works in states and municipalities across all regions.

This boost also had an impact on employment: in 2025, the sector registered over 1.5 million formal admissions, with a net increase of nearly 90,000 new jobs.
