The growth of the new application Bluesky two months ago occurred as a result of the measures implemented by the director of Tesla in Brazil through X. Bluesky, a decentralized microblogging social network, separated from Twitter in 2021 under the direction of Elon Musk. It offers a platform similar to Twitter but with greater control and privacy for users.
The Bluesky application, which has introduced the term "skeets" for each post, experienced a significant exodus of users from X after the recent elections, in which Donald Trump emerged victorious and appointed Elon Musk as the head of the new Department of Government Efficiency. In response to this situation, a large number of users migrated to Bluesky from X, expressing their concerns about political influence.
Bluesky has distinguished itself with its focus on content moderation and user privacy. In a statement following the elections in the U.S., the application assured that its team would not have close relationships with presidential candidates to influence what users see online, which resonated with a discontented audience seeking greater transparency.
On August 31 of this year, Bluesky reached an important milestone by registering approximately one million new users in a single day, solidifying its position in the social media market. Since February 2024, the application has been open to the general public, allowing for steady growth in its user base.
The continued rise in popularity of Bluesky demonstrates the demand for alternative social platforms that prioritize privacy and transparency in a time of political uncertainty and distrust in traditional social networks.
