A hot air balloon caught fire while in flight in Santa Catarina, Brazil. According to reports, there were 21 people on board, 8 of whom died as flames consumed the basket and the entire upper structure. Images show people in desperation jumping from the basket from a height of several dozen meters. The incident left 13 injured. Although the event occurred on June 21, 2025, it has resurfaced on social media as investigations have yet to clarify the real cause of the fire. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.
