Scandal Erupts After Supercopa Final Clash

In the final of the Supercopa of Brazil between Flamengo and Botafogo, a confrontation between players of both teams after the final whistle left an Argentine defender, Alexander Barboza, without a tooth. The fight began when Barboza pushed Bruno Henrique, which triggered a violent reaction from the Flamengo squad.

After a series of pushes and punches, referee Bruno Correia decided to expel Barboza, Gerson, and Cleiton, but the fight continued even in the stadium tunnels. Barboza was punched in the face by Cleiton, causing a cut in his mouth and the loss of a tooth.

The Carioca Federation is considering taking stricter disciplinary measures to prevent future incidents of this kind. The Sports Court determined that Barboza was primarily responsible for the conflict and imposed a provisional sanction of 30 days without playing in the Brasileirao, which could be extended if it is proven that there were serious injuries.

The final resolution will be known in the trial that will take place on Wednesday, February 19. Television images showed Barboza with his shirt stained with blood, and he had to be attended to by the medical staff. It is expected that the details of the incidents included in the referee's report will result in additional sanctions for the players involved.
