Brazilian club Santos was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Paulista Championship, losing to second-division team Novorizontino 2-1. The defeat was attributed to a blunder from star player and former Barcelona and PSG Neymar. This was his first match in two months following knee surgery. Neymar's errant pass led to the opposition's first goal late in the first half. Santos managed to equalize, but Neymar appeared frustrated with his teammates for not providing support in counter-attacks. The match seemed to be heading to a penalty shootout, but Leo Naldi scored a winning goal in the 96th minute from a beautiful pass by his teammate Vinicius Paiva.
