Brazil Draws with Venezuela in World Cup Qualifiers

In the qualifiers of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) for the 2026 World Cup, the Brazil national team missed the opportunity to achieve their third consecutive victory. The match ended in a draw 1-1 against the Venezuela national team in the 11th round of the qualifying stage.

The Brazil national team opened the scoring in the 43rd minute thanks to a goal from Raphinha, but Venezuela quickly responded with a goal from Talisca Sigovia in the 46th minute. In the 62nd minute, Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior failed to convert a penalty, missing the chance to score for his team. Consequently, the match ended in a draw.

At the end of the meeting, the Venezuela team was left with ten players after the expulsion of player Alexander Gonzales in the 89th minute. Before the final whistle, there was an unexpected stoppage due to an unforeseen activation of the watering system in the stadium.

The Brazil national team is currently in third place in the qualifying group, having accumulated 17 points. Meanwhile, the Venezuela national team, yet to secure a victory in the previous seven matches, is in the bottom place with 12 points.

The Brazil national team, which has defeated Chile and Peru in previous rounds, will play against the Uruguay national team in the next round. The Venezuela national team, in turn, faces the Chile national team.
